
Therapy Sessions
If you haven't previously been a client of DC Psychological Services, or if it has been longer than 6 months since you last saw your therapist, an initial session will be scheduled for you. After this initial session, you will continue with the same therapist.

This initial session will focus on gathering background information, coming to understand reasons for engaging in therapy at this time and determining the level of fit between the therapist and client. Please contact our office, or submit your information following the link below.

Individual Therapy Sessions
With Danielle Carl
A 50 minute therapy session available as either in-person or telehealth session. Danielle is primarily an emotion-focused and attachment-based therapist. From this theoretical perspective, she tries to find the root of difficulties that underly the symptoms you are experiencing so that healing and growth can occur. Therapeutic work often focuses on the use of insight-based techniques, analysis and evaluation of relationships and previous experiences, and the expression and processing of emotion. Danielle uses a variety of different therapeutic techniques drawing from multiple therapies including attachment-based, mindfulness, trauma-informed, cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, internal family systems, emotion-focused, parts work, and somatic techniques.
With Nancy Davis-Patsula
A 50 or 75 minute therapy session available as either in-person or telehealth sessions. Nancy adopts a collaborative approach rooted in a family systems perspective, ensuring she connects with clients at their current stage in their journey. She offers therapy for individuals, couples, and families, utilizing a variety of client-centered, evidence-based therapeutic techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, internal family systems, therapeutic play, and positive psychology. By providing therapy through a trauma-informed and attachment-focused lens, Nancy fosters a strong and positive therapeutic relationship, guiding her clients on their path to self-healing.
With Lainie Wareham
A 50 minute therapy session available as either in-person or telehealth sessions. Lainie specializes in supporting teens and young adults as they navigate the distinct challenges of their generation. She believes that the individual needs of each client should guide the therapeutic process, recognizing that everyone’s path is different. By remaining attuned to her clients, she develops strategies that mesh with their everyday experiences. During sessions, Lainie approaches clients with a trauma-informed perspective, utilizing a range of therapeutic techniques, including client-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness practices.
With Katharina Gette
A 50 minute therapy session available as either in-person or telehealth sessions. Katharina focuses mainly on social-emotional issues such as anxiety, identity, trauma, and relationship challenges. She also specializes in supporting neurodiverse clients, including those with ADHD or autism, to help clients gain a deeper understanding of how their brains function while developing personalized strategies that align with their lifestyles. Katharina works with clients through a trauma-informed lens to reframe and recognize their strengths while drawing from a variety of therapeutic approaches including attachment-based emotionally focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness therapy.
With Ashley Rietmann
A 50 minute therapy session available as either in-person or telehealth sessions. Ashley focuses on helping individuals and couples navigate challenges through exploring the roots of problems, fostering acceptance, and uncovering unique strengths and values. She utilizes a variety of evidence-based techniques such as acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic experiencing, the Gottman Method, and dialectical behavior therapy.

Couples Therapy Sessions
A 50 or 75 minute in-person couples therapy session using a family systems perspective.

While romantic relationships offer the potential for deep and enriching bonds, they also require significant emotional effort and may not always deliver the rewards we hope for or anticipate leading you to reach out for help. During couples therapy, your psychologist will establish a neutral space where they work with couples to promote understanding and work to mend their relationships. They will help you address relationship challenges using evidence-based therapeutic approaches, potentially discovering new strategies to rebuild skills that that nurture friendship, enhance communication, foster forgiveness, deepen understanding, cultivate empathy, and strengthen the bonds of connection within your relationships.

Family Therapy Sessions
A 50 or 75 minute in-person family therapy session using a family systems perspective.
It's important to recognize that sometimes, families may need to adjust their communication styles. Embracing changes in communication can foster deeper understanding, strengthen relationships, and create a more supportive atmosphere for all. Each family is unique, just like the individuals within it, so your psychologist will customize your family therapy sessions to address your family's specific needs.
Your psychologist will create a neutral environment where they collaborate with families to foster understanding and repair their relationships. They will assist you in navigating family relationship challenges by employing evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and positive psychology, all viewed through a trauma-informed and attachment perspective. Depending on your unique circumstances, this may involve exploring new strategies to rebuild skills that enhance communication, forgiveness, understanding, empathy, and connection within your family relationships.
