General Questions

  • Assessments help clarify how you or your child is functioning and can answer questions about suspected mental health diagnoses. Assessments may also be needed to document cognitive challenges, support accommodation requests, or access certain services. Some people pursue assessments simply to better understand how they process information and how that relates to their behaviour, emotions, thinking, and social functioning. If you are considering an assessment, contact us and we can help you determine the best option.

  • Our psychologists work with children aged 7 and older, teens, adults, couples, and families. We tailor our services to each client’s developmental needs.

  • If you are unsure whether to start with therapy or request an assessment, our team is here to help. Contact DC Psychological with a brief description of your concerns and we will recommend the most appropriate next step for you.

  • No referral is needed to book therapy or request an assessment at DC Psychological. Some extended health plans may require a referral for reimbursement, so please review your plan details.

Appointments and Booking

  • Book an appointment for therapy or assessment by using our online appointment request form. After we receive your request, our administrative team will contact you to confirm your appointment and discuss next steps.

  • In your first session, your psychologist will take time to understand your concerns, learn about your history, and help identify your therapy goals. This session also allows both you and your psychologist to ensure you are a comfortable and effective fit therapeutically.

  • Most therapy sessions are 50 to 60 minutes. Assessment appointments vary depending on the type of testing required, and your psychologist will review the timeline with you before beginning.

  • Many clients begin weekly or biweekly, then adjust as needed. Your psychologist will help you determine a schedule that feels manageable and supportive.

Virtual and In-Person Sessions

  • Yes, DC Psychological offers secure telehealth therapy sessions for clients throughout Alberta. Virtual therapy is a flexible option for busy schedules, mobility needs, individuals who live in remote communities, or those who prefer to meet from home.

  • You are welcome to attend appointments at our Red Deer clinic. We provide a calm, private, and welcoming environment for children, teens, and adults.

Fees, Billing, and Policies

  • Our fees follow the recommended rates set by the Psychologists Association of Alberta. The exact cost depends on the type of service. Please contact DC Psychological for our current fee schedule.
