Frequently Asked Questions

  • We offer individual, couples, and family therapy, as well as parent consultations, for clients ages 7+. Sessions are available in-person and via telehealth, depending on your needs and preference.

  • Therapy can help when you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or struggling to cope — even if you’re not in crisis. Many people seek counselling to work through anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, parenting concerns, trauma, life transitions, and emotional regulation. If you’re unsure, we can help you decide whether therapy is the right next step.

  • If you’re new to DC Psychological Services (or it’s been more than 6 months since your last session), we begin with an initial session. This first appointment focuses on understanding your background, what brings you in, and what you want support with. It also helps you and your therapist determine whether the fit feels right before continuing together.

  • We have a cancellation and billing policy in place to protect appointment times and ensure fair scheduling. We recommend reviewing the full policy before booking, and your therapist can answer any questions you have about cancellations and fees.

  • If you are in immediate danger or need urgent support, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Counselling is not an emergency service. If you need crisis support, please contact a local crisis line or emergency resources.
